Studies show that seniors are the most vulnerable to scam artist. Below listed are the top ten red flags that you should be aware of. If you have experienced any of these, you should be careful about the person calling you – their intentions may not be honorable.
Have any of these happened to you:
1) Have you received a phone call from someone asking you for personal information, such as bank account, credit card or Medicare numbers?
2) Did you receive a check in the mail indicating that you won a sweepstakes or a prize?
3) Did someone knock on your door to sell you magazines or roofing?
4) Did anyone ask you to wire them money or pay a fee with a credit card?
5) After checking your bank statement, are all bank drafts expected and accurate?
6) Have you ever received an email from a bank asking you for bank information or to update your personal information?
7) Have you ever received a high-pressure call from a charity asking for money?
8) Were you invited to an estate planning seminar or told that someone was interested in buying your time share?
9) Have you received a distress call from someone claiming to be your grandchild asking for money?
10) Does the product or service sound too good to be true?
So, please be careful when any of these types of suspect calls come your way.
